A fine vacation spot with a long tradition
The Künzel family has owned the hotel Strandidyll for 100 years. The first hotel was built in 1912 by Emil Künzel, the grandfather of today`s owner. In those days it was located far outside the town limits. At the end of the 1930’s, Emil Senior’s sons, Emil and Wilhelm Künzel, took over the hotel. From the early 1950’s, the hotel was in the exclusive ownership of Wilhelm Künzel and his wife. With their five children they themselves lived in the hotel. Over the past decades the hotel has often been rebuilt and expanded.
At the end of the 1950’s additional bungalows were built right next to the hotel. Over the years the requirements of our guests changed. To accommodate these changing needs, the owner family decided in 1976 to tear down the entire complex and to replace it with a new hotel combined with vacation apartments.
Almost at the same time in 1978, at first the management and then the ownership of the entire hotel were turned over to us, the brothers Rolf and Walter Künzel. To offer our guests a wide spectrum of holiday accommodations, we took over the holiday rentals of the “Strandidyll” and the “Belvedere” vacation apartments and rebuilt the “Strandhöhe” to an exclusive apartment building.
To carry on our family tradition, we refurbished the entire hotel complex and rebuilt parts of it from 2002 to 2004. All bathrooms dating from the 1970’s were completely rebuilt. All our suites were renovated, rooms newly furnished, the pool modernized and the reception area was given a new and modern appearance. We developed a new concept for our restaurant and rebuilt it completely.
To meet the changing needs of our guests, the winter of 2011 / 2012 has seen a number of changes in our hotel complex. In addition to refurbishing the entrance area and the enlargement of the lobby, our guests may now enjoy our new hotel bar in the restaurant.
It is our goal to continue to improve our facilities. At the same time we wish to provide a warm and friendly atmosphere to make our guests feel at home. Our guests, who return year after year, tell us: We have achieved what we set out to do.
